Today I received the detailed copy-editing report on my novel, and it was a very impressive report, great insight and details, and not just a spellcheck/grammar edit. I certainly got my money’s worth. At the moment though I am rather overwhelmed by it all and not sure just how to proceed. There is a ton of work ahead of me to get my novel into reasonable shape and I certainly hope I am up to the task. At the moment I am just sitting with it all, giving myself space to rethink things. I also had my annual eye exam today and nothing much has changed. I had trouble maintaining a consistent focus which my eye doctor said was probably due to my continued recovery from overexerting for Strawberry Festival. I received another request from Vashon Youth and Family Services for more quilts, this time for two young boys (2 and 6), their guardian grandfather and their mother. I spent part of the afternoon coming up with a new design for them, and I think I will like it a lot. I will begin them as soon as I finish the quilt for Kay’s new granddaughter, hopefully later this week. But now it is time to call it a day. Here is my tanka:

household chores
novel revision suggestions
major work ahead
annual eye exam
new quilts planned
