The day started off rather strangely when the dogs started barking like mad right after I entered my sauna. I wrapped my towel around me to find out what the problem was and found Lance in my yard with a yard crew. He thought I’d been told, but he has promised that in future he will personally let me know the minute I go on the schedule so we don’t have such embarrassing moments again. Meanwhile, he had the guys work in the front until I got through my morning routine. And my day was originally going to be very busy, which I am not a fan of, especially on Mondays. But Anja was sick, so our brunch was cancelled. Then my first and last students also cancelled or rescheduled, leaving me with just one student. I was then able to spend 4 1/2 hours revising my novel and I am just over half way through it, loving it a lot! I also read more of The Nine Tailors–a great novel!

  1. Wow, I’m so glad it was someone you knew traipsing around your yard! Were your dogs inside or outside when Lance arrived? Do they normally bark when people approach your house? I haven’t had a dog since I was a very small child due to allergies so I’m not sure what typical behaviour is for them. They sound like great little alarm systems, though. 😀

    • The dogs were inside and yes, no one sneaks up on me! Even when I tell them that it’s ok, they don’t usually stop barking. Also, Lance does know my routine and so I suspect the guys wouldn’t have gone into the backyard until they’d seen me dressed, but I tend not to like surprises like that! When I know they are coming I get up earlier.

      • That’s kind of funny. Do your dogs like people once you reassure them? Or maybe they dislike this kind of surprise as much as you do! 🙂

I would have been unnerved in that situation as well. I’m so glad it all turned out well for you.

  2. Oh, their friendly–loudly friendly and they think everyone comes to see them, hopefully with treats! And yes, the stop once they actually meet the person, inside or out.

  3. It’s fine. Lance said he thought you’d called, but I told him you never call me so we set it up that he will always call and that should work fine as he’s been wonderful about keeping me in the loop. And it all worked out. Glad that both you and Loyd are doing better! Hugs!
